Carthage College, Lincoln Presidential Foundation, The Lincoln Forum, and the Kenosha Civil War Museum are pleased to present our 2nd annual Lincoln Symposium on September 28-29th, 2023. The Lincoln Symposium will be hosted by Carthage in the Campbell Student Union Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public as well as to students, staff, and faculty. Registration is strongly encouraged but not required.
This year's event will kick off with a dinner and reception at 5 p.m. on the north lawn of the campus, followed by the opening keynote with Dr. Ronald White speaking on "Lincoln Is America." Dr. White is the author of two New York Times bestselling presidential biographies, A. Lincoln: A Biography and American Ulysses: A Life of Ulysses S. Grant. His next book, On Great Fields: The Life and Unlikely Heroism of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain will be published in October 2023.
The morning of September 29th will include a continental breakfast and three speakers: Dr. Elizabeth Leonard, Dr. Jonathan White, and Dr. Lucas Morel. The afternoon of the 29th includes a lunch followed by our final speaker, Dr. Ted Widmer. Each of these speakers are expert Lincoln scholars that we are proud to help bring to Carthage and to Kenosha, Wisconsin.
You can learn more about each of the speakers and the full program for the event on the Carthage website HERE
