Join us for an in-depth conversation with Dr. Ted Widmer on his most recent book, Lincoln on the Verge. Following our wide-ranging conversation with Dr. Widmer in 2020, the feedback was clear: the audience enjoyed the discussion and wanted more time and discussion about his latest book. We’re delighted to bring him back to talk specifically about what publisher Simon & Schuster called, “the dramatic story of America’s greatest president discovering his own strength to save the Republic. As a divided nation plunges into the deepest crisis in its history, Abraham Lincoln boards a train for Washington and his inauguration—an inauguration Southerners have vowed to prevent. Lincoln on the Verge charts these pivotal thirteen days of travel, as Lincoln discovers his power, speaks directly to the public, and sees his country up close.”
Edward "Ted" Ladd Widmer is a historian, writer, librarian, musician, and professor at CUNY Macaulay Honors College, where he is developing a new Humanities Lab. Dr. Widmer served as a speechwriter in the Clinton White House.
